Belvedere Launches New Single Estate Collection

Belvedere Vodka has announced two new additions to its Single Estate Rye series, the most ambitious terroir-driven project in vodka's history — and the results will force even the sceptics to reconsider what this spirit can express.

The Details

The new expressions — Lake Bartężek and Forest Smogóry Oak — join the existing Smogóry Forest and Lake Bartężek lines, extending a portfolio that began in 2017 when Belvedere first challenged the industry's assumption that vodka terroir was a marketing fiction. Each bottle is sourced from a single Polish estate, uses a single rye variety, and is produced in a single distillery run without blending.

Lake Bartężek, sourced from the Masuria lake district, delivers a softer, more floral profile driven by the mineral-rich glacial soils. Forest Smogóry Oak, by contrast, draws on rye grown near ancient woodland, producing a spirit with a distinctly richer, more savoury character — notes of salted toffee and white pepper that carry well past the finish.

"We have been studying these estates for nearly a decade," said Roderick Donoghue, Belvedere's Head of Liquid Development. "The differences between them are not subtle. They are as pronounced as you would find comparing two grand cru Burgundies from neighbouring villages."

Industry Context

The move comes as premium vodka faces increasing pressure from the whisky and gin categories, both of which benefit from deeply embedded terroir narratives. Belvedere's single estate range is widely credited with opening the conversation, but adoption has been slow. Few producers have the agricultural relationships or distilling precision to deliver genuine provenance — most "single estate" claims in the spirits world remain difficult to verify independently.

The International Wine & Spirit Research group estimated the premium and super-premium vodka segment grew 9.3% by value in 2025, outpacing volume growth significantly. Belvedere's new expressions are priced at £75–£85 per bottle in the UK — a meaningful step above the core range.

"Consumers in the premium tier are now asking the same questions of vodka that they have been asking of wine for thirty years," said Aleksandra Kowalska, spirits buyer at Berry Bros. & Rudd. "Where is this from? Who grew the grain? What makes this place different? Belvedere is the brand answering those questions most convincingly."

What's Next

The new expressions will be available in global travel retail from March 2026, followed by a phased rollout through specialist independent retailers. Belvedere has confirmed a third estate addition — believed to be sourced from the Podkarpacie region in southeast Poland — is in development, with a planned release for autumn 2026. A limited-edition single-barrel bottling, signed by the estate farmer, is also in discussion for the collector market.
