Tasting Notes

Nose

Classic Grey Goose elegance — soft wheat, gentle almond, and a subtle citrus lift. Refined and inviting.

Palate

Silky and well-rounded with delicate wheat sweetness, a hint of star anise, and smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Quintessentially Grey Goose.

Finish

Clean and lingering with gentle warmth and soft wheat sweetness.

Grey Goose in Magnum format is a proposition that needs little justification. This 1.75-litre bottle contains the same exquisite French vodka that has dominated the premium category for over two decades — distilled in Cognac from Picardy winter wheat and blended with naturally filtered spring water from Gensac-la-Pallue.

The liquid is, unsurprisingly, identical to the standard bottle. The nose is refined and elegant — soft wheat, gentle almond, and a citrus brightness that has become Grey Goose's calling card. On the palate, that famous silky smoothness is immediately evident, with delicate wheat sweetness and a hint of star anise providing understated complexity.

The Magnum format serves two purposes. For entertaining, it is a visual statement — a bottle this size on a bar cart or kitchen counter commands attention and signals generosity. Practically, at £148 for 175cl, it offers better value per serve than buying two-and-a-half standard bottles.

Grey Goose remains, year after year, one of the most consistently excellent vodkas available. The Platinum medal at the World Spirits Championship was no accident, and this Magnum is the ideal way to stock up on a spirit that deserves a permanent place in every serious drinks cabinet.

A reliable pour that won't blow your mind but does the job. The nose has gentle almond — the review is accurate there. The palate gives you star anise, which is fine but a bit safe. I keep reaching for other bottles when I want to sip neat, but for cocktails it's hard to complain. The finish is clean.

One of the most well-crafted vodkas I've tasted. The Refined and inviting promises quality, and the palate delivers with smooth. Nothing feels harsh or out of place. The finish ties it all together. I tried it neat, chilled, and in a Moscow Mule — it shines in all three. The french picardy wheat base gives it a distinctive character. Can't recommend it highly enough.
