Tasting Notes

Nose

Remarkably well-preserved, with a mellow grain sweetness and a faint oxidative quality that adds complexity. Notes of soft bread and a subtle nuttiness.

Palate

Smooth and surprisingly vibrant for its age. There is a rounded grain sweetness, gentle vanilla, and a waxy texture that speaks to decades of bottle ageing. Genuinely fascinating.

Finish

Long and mellow with a gentle warmth and fading grain sweetness.

A wonderful piece of vodka history. This 1950s bottling of Eristow — now known as Eristoff — was produced by Martini & Rossi in Italy and has aged remarkably well. At £150, it is a collector's piece as much as a drinking experience, but it delivers on both counts.

Kai Oliveira VIPsAllowed — Exceptional smoothness

As someone who's been appreciating quality vodka for years, this is among the finest I've encountered at this price point. On the nose I get Notes of soft bread and a subtle nuttiness — let it warm slightly in the glass and the aromas open up. The palate is where it really shines: Genuinely fascinating with Smooth and surprisingly vibrant for its age. Martini & Rossi has clearly mastered their craft.

I keep coming back to this bottle and appreciating the subtlety. The Notes of soft bread and a subtle nuttiness on the nose is genuinely there if you take a moment to notice. On the palate, Genuinely fascinating is rich and satisfying, with gentle vanilla developing. A vodka that rewards attention. At 40% ABV, the proof is perfectly judged.
