Nose
Slightly spirity at 43%, with a raw grain character and faint ethanol prickle. Functional rather than elegant.
Palate
Punchy and hot, with a grainy backbone and a burn that reflects the higher ABV. There is a basic sweetness that rounds things off slightly.
Finish
Short and warming with a lingering grain bite.
Expert Review
6/10Cossack Vodka is an old-school London-produced spirit from J&J Vickers, bottled at a robust 43%. It is rough around the edges but has a certain no-nonsense charm, and at £12.75 for 50cl, the price-to-strength ratio is hard to argue with.

View All (1)The nose on this is lovely — I immediately got Functional rather than elegant and with a raw grain character and faint ethanol prickle. On the palate, the There is a basic sweetness that rounds things off slightly is beautifully done, and the Short and warming with a lingering grain bite. I agree with the editorial review — this is a seriously impressive vodka. Tried it neat at room temperature first, then chilled from the freezer. Both excellent, but neat at room temp shows off the character better.
