Heritage & Distillery
Koskenkorva is one of Finland's most iconic vodka brands, and the Climate Action expression represents the distillery's commitment to sustainability — produced exclusively with regeneratively farmed barley from southern Finland. Regenerative farming goes beyond organic certification, actively seeking to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and sequester carbon through agricultural practices that restore rather than deplete the land.
The Koskenkorva distillery in the village of the same name has produced vodka since the 1950s and operates one of the most energy-efficient distilling processes in the world, using over 99% of its raw materials and generating much of its energy from biowaste. The Climate Action vodka is the distillation of this philosophy — pun intended — into a single, commercially available product.
Tasting Notes
The nose presents smooth vanilla, caramel, white flowers, and a clean, fresh barley grain character that reflects the Finnish terroir. On the palate, the vodka is creamy and smooth with vanilla sweetness, caramel, delicate white flowers, and a gentle barley warmth. The character is well-mannered and easy-drinking — not dramatically complex but certainly pleasant and well-made. The finish is medium, clean with gentle warmth and a smooth, slightly sweet close.
Verdict
At seven out of ten, Koskenkorva Climate Action delivers a smooth, creditable vodka with genuinely meaningful environmental credentials. The liquid is pleasant rather than extraordinary, but the sustainability story is among the most authentic and comprehensive in the spirits industry. At under twenty-eight pounds, it represents good value for a spirit that allows the conscientious consumer to drink with a clearer environmental conscience.
