Tasting Notes

Nose

Pristine purity with delicate cream, a whisper of white pepper, and extraordinary refinement. The freeze-filtration process is evident in the crystalline clarity.

Palate

Liquid silk — supremely smooth with the most delicate flavours of cream, soft grain, and a breath of anise. The patented freeze-filtration removes every trace of harshness.

Finish

Long, warming, and impeccably clean with a gentle peppery glow.

Elit is Stolichnaya's crown jewel — the vodka that represents everything they have learned about distillation distilled into a single, extraordinary spirit. This Magnum bottling offers the same flawless liquid in a 1.75-litre format that makes both economic and practical sense for devotees.

The production process is what sets Elit apart. After conventional distillation, the vodka undergoes Stoli's patented freeze-filtration technique: the spirit is cooled to minus 18 degrees Celsius, causing remaining impurities to crystallise and separate from the liquid. The result is a vodka of staggering purity that virtually defines the word 'smooth'.

On the nose, Elit is pristine — delicate cream, white pepper, and a refinement that borders on the ethereal. The palate is where the freeze-filtration truly shows its worth: liquid silk, with the most delicate flavours of cream, soft grain, and the faintest breath of anise. There is simply no harshness anywhere — every rough edge has been removed, leaving only pure, luminous spirit.

At £156 for 1.75 litres, the Magnum represents excellent value compared to buying individual bottles. For a vodka of this calibre — one that routinely competes with and beats spirits costing significantly more — it is an intelligent purchase for anyone who appreciates truly exceptional vodka.

Keep it in the freezer, pour it into chilled glasses, and drink it neat. Anything else would be a disservice to one of the world's finest spirits.

Ryan Mitchell VIPsAllowed Disappointing for the price
5/10

Bit disappointed. The nose is fine — I got some Pristine purity with delicate cream — but on the palate it's too one-dimensional. At £156.00, I expect more character. The Long drops off quickly. The tasting notes in the review didn't match my experience. Might work better in cocktails than neat.
