Heritage & Distillery
The département of Alpes-Maritimes, numbered 06 in the French administrative system, encompasses the glamorous stretch of Mediterranean coastline from Cannes to Monaco — a landscape whose association with rosé wine, sunshine, and effortless sophistication provides the inspiration for this unusual vodka. The spirit is produced by infusing five-times-distilled French winter wheat vodka with an active wine extract derived from Provence rosé, creating a category-defying hybrid that sits somewhere between flavoured vodka and vinous aperitif.
Production
The base spirit undergoes five distillations from French winter wheat, producing an exceptionally clean, neutral canvas upon which the rosé character can be painted. The Provence rosé wine extract is integrated post-distillation, contributing colour, aroma, and a subtle vinous quality without the sugar and sweetness that characterise most fruit-flavoured vodkas. The bottling at 37.5% ABV keeps the spirit light and aperitif-friendly.
Tasting Notes
The nose is delicate and immediately appealing — rosé wine, red berries, rose petal, and a hint of sun-warmed Provençal herbs create an aromatic profile of considerable charm. On the palate, the vodka is light and elegant with strawberry, raspberry, a whisper of Provence rosé, and soft floral notes. The wheat base provides a silky texture that prevents the spirit from becoming thin. The finish is medium, dry and wine-like with lingering berry fruit and a clean, aromatic close.
The Serve
Serve chilled in a large wine glass over ice — the rosé character is most fully expressed in this context, and the spirit functions beautifully as a summer aperitif. It also works well in a Vodka Spritz with prosecco and soda, or in a French Martini where the berry notes complement the Chambord.
Verdict
06 Vodka Rosé is a genuinely novel proposition — a flavoured vodka that draws on wine rather than confectionery for its character, and that succeeds in capturing something of the Provençal summer that inspired it. The pricing is ambitious for a spirit at 37.5% ABV, but the quality and originality justify a degree of premium.
