Sacred Distillery has been producing spirits in Highgate, north London, since 2007, and their Organic Vodka is a fine example of what happens when small-batch craft meets genuine commitment to quality ingredients. Made from Soil Association approved grain, this is vodka with impeccable organic credentials.
The decision to leave the spirit unfiltered is a bold one, but it pays dividends. Where heavy filtration strips vodka back to near-total neutrality, Sacred's approach retains subtle grain notes and a slightly creamy mouthfeel that gives the spirit genuine personality. The nose is clean and precise, with a delicate floral quality and gentle grain sweetness.
On the palate, this is beautifully smooth — remarkably so for a microdistilled spirit. The grain character is present but restrained, providing just enough flavour to make sipping neat a pleasure rather than an endurance test. It also mixes superbly, adding a touch more body and flavour to cocktails than your standard filtered vodka.
At £34.95, Sacred Organic is priced fairly for a genuine London microdistilled organic spirit. In a city awash with craft gins, it is refreshing to find a distillery that gives vodka the same level of care and attention. Highly recommended.
