Eristoff traces its heritage to the princely Eristavi family of Georgia — a provenance that lends a touch of noble romance to what is, in practical terms, a well-made commercial vodka designed for the mass market. Relaunched in 2021 with updated branding, Eristoff is now owned by Bacardi and produced from 100% grain with triple distillation creating an smooth, creamy texture.
The magnum format — 150cl — offers excellent per-litre value and positions this as a party and entertaining vodka, a role in which its smooth, undemanding character serves it well.
Tasting Notes
The nose is clean and neutral — subtle grain, a hint of citrus, and minimal complexity. This is not a vodka that invites prolonged nosing, but neither does it present any off-notes or deficiencies. On the palate, the vodka is smooth and creamy with gentle grain sweetness and a neutral character that makes it an excellent cocktail base. The triple distillation delivers a remarkably smooth texture for the price point. The finish is short, clean, and gentle with minimal aftertaste.
Verdict
At six out of ten, Eristoff Magnum delivers precisely what it should — a smooth, clean, well-made commercial vodka at excellent value in a generous format. It does not aspire to complexity or character, and it would be unfair to criticise it for lacking qualities it never claimed to possess. For cocktails, mixed drinks, and party serves, it is a thoroughly sensible choice.
