Heritage & Concept

The Verbena expression demonstrates what happens when a distillery with world-class botanical expertise turns its attention to flavoured vodka. Cambridge Distillery's lemon verbena is harvested from the farm and garden near the distillery — a genuinely field-to-bottle ingredient that contributes natural, complex aromatics rather than the synthetic flavouring that plagues much of the flavoured vodka category. The small-batch production ensures consistency of quality while allowing the natural variation of the botanical harvest to express itself in each batch.

Lemon verbena is a botanical that Cambridge has mastered through its gin production — the distillery's understanding of how to extract and preserve the plant's delicate citrus and herbal character translates directly into a flavoured vodka of unusual refinement.

Tasting Notes

The nose is immediately beautiful — fresh lemon verbena, bright citrus, herbal garden notes, and the clean wheat base providing a neutral canvas for the botanical to shine. The verbena character is natural and multi-dimensional, suggesting both lemon zest and green herbs without the one-note quality of synthetic citrus flavouring. On the palate, the spirit is beautifully aromatic, with natural lemon verbena character providing the defining impression, herbal complexity adding depth, and a clean, crisp backbone maintaining balance. Delicate yet vivid — a description that could apply equally to the botanical itself.

The finish is medium-long, with lingering verbena, lemon zest, and a fresh, green close that invites another sip. This is flavoured vodka made by people who understand botanicals at a molecular level, and the difference between this and a mass-market citrus-flavoured vodka is immediately apparent.

Verdict

Cambridge Meadow Mist Verbena is an exemplary flavoured vodka — a spirit that demonstrates the transformative difference between natural botanical infusion and synthetic flavouring. The lemon verbena is harvested, distilled, and preserved with the same skill that has made Cambridge one of the world's most respected gin producers, and the result is a flavoured vodka of genuine distinction. Highly recommended.

What a beautifully crafted spirit. The nose gives you herbal garden notes and clean wheat and Fresh lemon verbena, and on the palate it's all about Delicate yet vivid. The mouthfeel is particularly impressive — silky, full, and rewarding. The finish rounds everything off with lemon zest and a fresh. Anyone who says all vodka tastes the same hasn't tried this. The review here nails it.
